A third Starbucks coffee shop is set to open in Ipswich, it has been announced – just a year after the chain pulled out of its store in the Buttermarket.
A planning application has been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council for a store in West End Road, next to the Burger King near the junction with London Road.
In the application, the chain outlines plans to build a shop with drive-through, after plans by pharmacy retailer Boots for a drive-through store were abandoned.
Starbucks already has shops in Tavern Street and the Cineworld in Cardinal Park, and in March last year opted to vacate its unit in the Buttermarket just days after a £9.2million overhaul of the shopping centre was announced.
A spokesman from the firm said: “We are always looking at opportunities to reach new customers however at this time it is too early to confirm a new store on West End Road, Ipswich.”
The application is currently in the consultation stage, and is due to go before planners in August.
