IPSWICH: Ipswich Town players helped kick-start a new bank as it celebrated its official unveiling yesterday.

First team players Daryl Murphy and Nathan Ellington joined staff and residents at the Britannia branch on Queen Street, Ipswich, as it officially became a bank.

Britannia, which was a mutual building society when it became part of The Co-operative Bank, is now offering full banking services, meaning that customers can open and use current accounts at the branch. The Queen Street branch is one of four in the town to convert.

Branch manager Victoria Lynch said: “We had a great afternoon celebrating our new look branch and are really pleased that customers can now do their every day banking here too. Both customers and staff were very excited to meet Daryl Murphy and Nathan Ellington from Ipswich Town, they really helped to get the celebrations off to a great start.”
