Tiptree-based jam maker Wilkin & Sons has acquired its seventh tea room.

Bosworth’s, which operates from a Grade II-listed building overlooking the green in the picturesque village of Finchingfield, near Braintree, will be managed by Joanne Rogers, daughter of the previous owner, Rita Grabowski.

In a further family link, Joanne, who has worked at Bosworth’s for 10 years, will be assisted at busy times by her sister, Leanne.

Widely acclaimed as a one of England’s most photographed villages, Finchingfield gained international exposure last year when it formed part of the route of the Tour de France cycle race.

Ian Thurgood, joint managing director of Wilkin & Sons, said: “Finchingfield is a perfect location and Bosworth’s has a reputation that extends far beyond the village and the Braintree area.”

He added: “We are delighted that Joanne is continuing the family connection with Bosworth’s and she’s immediately agreed to continue serving home cooked breakfasts, traditional lunches and special cream teas.”

Wilkin & Sons’ network of tearooms includes the Essex Rose at Dedham and The Lock at Heybridge Basin, near Maldon, as well as one at its own visitor centre in Tiptree.
