A Chinese takeaway in Bury St Edmunds has achieved a ‘good’ food hygiene rating after an environmental health inspection.
Jasmine, in Cadogan Road, was rated zero after an inspection by west Suffolk councils in November when “a number of significant issues” were discovered.
The takeaway was re-rated following another inspection on Friday, February 9, after the necessary three-month standstill period.
A council spokeswoman said: “The inspecting officer, Belinda Betham, was very pleased to note that significant improvements had been made and that the advice and guidance provided by her had been actioned, enabling her to re-rate the premises as four - ‘good’ on the food hygiene rating scheme.
“It is understood that further improvements are planned with an aim to achieve a rating of five - ‘very good’ at the next routine inspection in a few months’ time.
“This is a great example of how our commercial environmental health team’s advice and support can make a real difference.
“Our role is to protect the community, and help boost the local economy, and we achieve the best results by working with businesses to raise food hygiene standards.”
A spokesman for Jasmine said: “Our food is good and very hygienic. The council is now very satisfied with the food hygiene at Jasmine.”
