JIM Addison, senior manager at Colchester Institute, has joined the non-executive board of Colbea, the local business enterprise agency.
Mr Addison, a magistrate since 1990, brings expertise in education to the organisation as it seeks to reach students and young people in vocational training or considering self-employment.
He has held a management post at Colchester Institute for nearly 20 years and since 2004 has been a non-executive director of the local acute hospital trust.
During his career, he has taught mathematics at two local schools, as well as teaching in Uruguay for four years.
Colbea's chief executive Bob Baggalley said: “Jim's knowledge of education will add to those skills and help further the work we do with local schools and colleges where we aim to provide students with a grounding in business skills that complements their vocational training.”
