SUFFOLK building company DF & TJ King Builders Ltd has gone into liquidation with the loss of all eight jobs.
LONG Melford building company DF & TJ King Builders Ltd has gone into liquidation with the loss of all eight jobs.
Insolvency practitioner Ian Bull of Sudbury-based Ian Bull & Co, said the company, which specialised in listed building work, had operated successfully as a partnership for many years before being incorporated more recently.
The company had been placed into liquidation due to a combination of the dwindling number of listed properties in need of substantial renovation, due to the volume of improvement work carried out in recent years, and the onset of the economic downturn.
Derek King, who incorporated the business after his brother Terry retired from the partnership, said work had tailed off from October onwards and, as a result of redundancy pay due to some long-serving employees, there had been no alternative but to place the company into voluntary liquidation.
He added that he was continuing to work in the trade, now as a sole trader, as D F King Builders.
