Dr Khalid Bhutto has set up a health and safety consultancy business based at Felaw Maltings in Ipswich.

He left his post as a director at a consulting engineers company in the town last autumn to start the new venture called SafeScope Ltd.

With a team of four principal staff, SafeScope offers a full range of health and safety consultancy, from developing a complete health and safety management system for clients to providing various assessments and regulation compliance checks.

Dr Bhutto said the aim of SafeScope is to provide clear advice and assistance to businesses based in Ipswich and East Anglia, and reduce some of the confusion and scaremongering that surrounds health and safety issues.

“Our experience shows that a great deal of money is being wasted and unnecessary paperwork generated due to the lack of understanding and correct advice about the health and safety requirements,” he said.

“Since our start, we have supported a number of businesses and other organisations to manage their essential health and safety requirements by taking a sensible and realistic approach instead of either ignoring it all together, which creates risks for their staff or others, or going to other extremes and spending unnecessarily on things which realistically do not help in managing health and safety.

“The aim is to provide cost effective and realistic assistance to local businesses in the current difficult trading conditions.”
