KRISS Akabusi, the Olympic athlete as well known for his laugh as for his running, delighted local construction employers and students yesterday with a motivational speech at an event in Ipswich.
Guest speaker at the Moving Forward in the Construction Industry conference at Trinity Park, the Olympic silver medallist inspired delegates with his “Fit4Business” presentation.
Focusing on key themes, Kriss talked about how to be the best you can be both professionally and personally. The themes included setting a vision, setting goals for teams and individuals, identifying and overcoming hurdles, using creativity and innovation to achieve outstanding results, and managing change.
Other keynote speakers at the event, who brought delegates up to date on current issues affecting the construction industry, training opportunities and funding, were Dave Müller, principal at Suffolk New College, Marilyn Watsham, deputy principals at Suffolk New College, Paul Whitmore from AMEC, Paul Howlett from the Haven Gateway Partnership, and Paul Freeborough of the Suffolk Learning and Skills Council.
