AN Ipswich Hotel which recently reopened has appointed a new head chef.
Liam Oakenfull, 32, joins The Gatehouse on Old Norwich Road, which passed its first AA inspection days after its reopening.
The hotel, previously run as a bed and breakfast and set in three acres, is owned by local businessman Khurram Saeed and managed by Roger Aston.
Mr Oakenfull trained at Suffolk College before joining Seckford Hall for three years. He moved to London, working first at the Tower Hotel and later The Ritz, where he was First Commis. He moved abroad, and has returned to England after three years in Cyprus.
Mr Aston said he was “delighted” to welcome him to the team.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience and a great deal of passion for sourcing high quality produce,” he said.
