Creditors who may have been left out of pocket by the collapse of Suffolk company Samuel David Construction are being urged to step forward.

Nicholas Cusack of Parker Andrews has been appointed as the liquidator to the case of Samuel David Construction, a building company based on Quayside in Woodbridge.

The company is going into voluntary liquidation, owing more than £1m to 73 businesses and individuals all over East Anglia.

“I am asking for anyone who is affected to get in touch with my office,” said Mr Cusack. “The creditors have been in touch with the police, who are waiting for my investigation to be over before they take forward their own investigation.

“We are looking through bank statements to see what the situation is.”

A creditors’ committee has been appointed to investigate the matter. They will meet for the first time on Monday morning.

Among the list of creditors is Jewsons the builders merchant, which is owed £59,764, Funding Circle, a London-based peer-to-peer lender to whom Samuel David Construction owed £120,000, and HM Revenue & Customs, which is owed £120,000.

The director of Samuel David Construction is Samuel David Shutlar, a 29-year-old who set up the company in June 2012.

Suffolk police have also confirmed they are investigating allegations of financial misconduct, pending a report from the liquidators.

This newspaper put questions to Mr Shutlar, which had not been responded to at the time of going to press.
