Supply chain group Harrison C White (HCW), which is based in Felixstowe, has signed a heads of terms deal to acquire a “substantial” stake in Scottish shipping and logistics company Anchor Freight.

Anchor, which was established in 1997, provides a diverse range of services to clients ranging from global blue chip companies to SMEs. Its development was led by Bill Rinn, who died suddenly during August.

Carl Day, chief executive of HCW, said “We have worked with Anchor Freight over numerous years and most recently working very closely on some very specific joint venture projects, therefore, the natural synergies already formed makes this such a natural fit.

“Bill Rinn was as much a friend as a colleague and his recent passing is a great loss. This is my way of ensuring that his legacy will continue to grow from strength to strength in the future. We want to build upon excellent pedigree that Anchor Freight already has today.”

He added: “Over the coming weeks we plan to finalise an agreement with Anchor Freight and would like to reassure all staff and customers of our commitment to developing the existing strong management combined with the professional and dedicated staff that provide such a valued service to their clients.”
