FRAMLINGHAM-BASED Mary Axon is to head up a new south division of Edinburgh-based fine art auctioneers and valuers Lyon & Turnbull.Ms Axon, who will be the director covering East Anglia, will carry out valuations for sale, insurance or probate from her Suffolk base.

FRAMLINGHAM-BASED Mary Axon is to head up a new south division of Edinburgh-based fine art auctioneers and valuers Lyon & Turnbull.

Ms Axon, who will be the director covering East Anglia, will carry out valuations for sale, insurance or probate from her Suffolk base.

After graduating from the University of East Anglia and Leicester University, she worked in the museums sector before joining the picture department of Phillips Auctioneers in London. She moved to the region in 1991, and has she has been a picture specialist and regional director of Phillips and Bonhams. She is also a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Ms Axon said she was looking forward to developing the business in East Anglia.

“It is an exciting new expansion for Lyon & Turnbull, following our first successful sale in the region at Loudham Hall near Wickham Market, last summer, which realised over £2million,” she said.

“Having been at university in the region, and now lived, worked and raised a family here for the last 17 years, I look forward to offering the high quality marketing and customer service, for which the company is known, to clients in East Anglia.”
