MATTHEW Welham has been promoted to senior operations manager at nationwide family company Wright Care Home Solutions.

The 39-year-old, from Bury St Edmunds, joined the East Yorkshire-based company, which offers support, guidance and training in all aspects of care home management, in March from the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution where he worked for 14 years.

Wright Care Homes founder Julie Wright said: “Matthew has used his skill, expertise and initiative to build on the excellent reputation that Wright Care Homes enjoys in Norfolk, Cambridge and Suffolk and it is a pleasure to reward his commitment with this well-earned promotion.”

Mr Welham's remit is to turn round underperforming care homes and give operational and marketing advice to increase occupancy rates in private sector homes across southern England.

“It's been a fantastic six months,” he said.

“We've had some great successes with individual and group care homes and we have a very promising future ahead of us.”

The father-of-two is a keen Ipswich Town fan.
