CHELMSFORD Borough Council has appointed a new town centre marketing manager.

Mike Wray, who has been caretaking the role for three months, will help market and promote the town and work closely with local business and retailer associations, market traders, voluntary organisations and emergency services on town centre issues.

Mr Wray will be building on the success of farmers' markets, continental markets, gourmet food fairs and other initiatives, and will be organising a variety of events and activities to make shopping and visiting the town more attractive.

“These are exciting times for the town and I now look forward to what I am sure will be a challenging and rewarding role,” he said.

“I am particularly keen to engage with as many town centre interests as possible so that I can start to build productive working relationships with them.”
