English Architectural Glazing (EAG), based in Mildenhall, has been appointed by Morgan Sindall as its specialist cladding subcontractor to supply a feature timber curtain wall as part of a £14.7m project for the University of Essex.

The a curved timber-framed and timber-clad structure, shaped to maximise natural day lighting and ventilation, forms part of a three-storey, 5,500square metre development on the university’s Colchester campus to house Essex Business School.

Edward Whipp, pre-construction director at EAG, said:“We welcome this first and future collaboration with Morgan Sindall.

“This adds another landmark scheme to our established educational portfolio. We expect our work to commence on site in November 2013.”

The new building is due to be completed in summer 2014 and will include a 250-seat lecture theatre, a number of smaller seminar rooms, learning and teaching areas, common rooms and social spaces for students.
