Rail passengers in Kelvedon and Chelmsford will benefit from more trains when the new winter timetable comes into operation this Sunday, December 9.

Kelvedon rail passengers gain an extra morning service from Mondays to Fridays with the 06.24 train from Colchester Town now stopping at the station at 06.41.

Chelmsford gets three additional morning services on Saturdays only, with Lowestoft trains calling at the station at 09.06 and 11.06 and a third train from Peterborough stopping at Chelmsford at 10.06. On Saturday evenings, the 17.46 from Liverpool Street to Lowestoft calls at Chelmsford station at 18.16 and the 18.46 Liverpool Street to Peterborough makes a stop at 19.16.

One, owned by National Express Group, has also improved connections on its rural train routes for the new timetable.

The 05.40 weekday Lowestoft to Norwich service now departs at 05.36 to provide a connection with the 06.25 Norwich to Liverpool street train. And the 06.00 weekday Great Yarmouth to Norwich service has been rescheduled to depart at 05.55 to connect with the 06.33 Norwich to Cambridge service.

There are a few minor changes and alterations to other services in the new timetable, said One, and passengers are advised to check train times in advance.

One is also reminding passengers that Liverpool Street station is closed from Sunday, December 23, through to Tuesday, January 1, for major bridge demolition work associated with Transport for London's East London line extension project.

Andrew Goodrum, business director for One's mainline route, said: “We are pleased to be able to introduce extra station stops at Kelvedon and Chelmsford for our mainline route customers in the winter timetable, responding to the feedback we receive from rail passengers and stakeholders.”
