Six new farms will join AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds’ Monitor Farm network this summer, including one in Essex.

Mother and son team Christy and Hew Willett’s farm at Parklands Farm in Galleywood, near Chelmsford, is part of a new cohort taking part in the scheme, which involves farmers learning from each other, as the farm levy payers’ organisation launches the next phase of its programme.

The new farms to enter the project will be building on the success of the previous farms at a time when the first English and Welsh projects come to the end of their three-year term. Head of knowledge exchange Tim Isaac said the scheme so far had exceeded all expectations.

Parklands has 75 ha of arable cropping, and grows two wheats, most of which is destined for local millers.
