Seckford Hall Hotel near Woodbridge has announced the appointment of four key members of staff, who will be joining the team to help develop and strengthen the hotels future growth.

The hotel’s highly regarded team will be boosted by the arrival of Richard Brown, who joins as business development manager, Anne Musolino as events coordinator and Ashley Durrant and Liam Oakenfull who are promoted to head chefs.

Richard’s role is seen as key to the hotel’s development. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the hotel industry.

After nearly three years with the Starwood Hotel Group in America, Richard moved to Miami where he worked as a concierge with Royal Caribbean. Moving through the ranks he held various marketing and sales roles before working as onshore sales and marketing director for seven years. Based in the Caribbean, he also worked on four of the five main continents of the world, managing 1200 staff from 60 different countries and achieving sales in excess of $55million. When visiting Suffolk he met his wife and decided to put down roots in this country.

Richard said: “I am delighted to be joining Seckford Hall at such an exciting time and really looking forward to developing its already strong reputation further.”

Anne previously worked at the hotel seven years ago before leaving to join Otley College. She then joined the Milsoms Group at Kesgrave Hall as accommodation/front of house manager for three years, helping with the opening and managing a team including the housekeeping department and night managers. She then joined Peter Osborne in Aldeburgh at the White Lion Hotel, as weddings and events manager.

“I am really excited about coming back to Seckford Hall,” she said. “The hotel was always very special to me and with the new refurbishment and expansion plans well under way, the hotel will have a great offering to both local and national clients. I am also really looking forward to the challenges ahead and working closely with Richard to develop the business.”

Ashley and Liam have been working together at Seckford Hall for a number of years and have recently been promoted to the role of joint head chefs.

Ashley was born and brought up in Ipswich and studied his craft at Suffolk College, with his first appointments at Felixstowe Docks and then the Directors Restaurant. From there he worked for two other local hotels, The Moat House at Copdock and the prestigious Hintlesham Hall. A keen golfer, who has represented the county, Ashley is looking forward to developing Seckford Hall’s menus together with Liam.

Liam originally joined Seckford Hall after three years at The Tower and Ritz Hotels in London. He left Seckford after four years to pursue a career as a private chef before taking on role as sous chef at Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich. Other career highpoints for Liam is working as sous chef at Ipswich Town Football Club and working in Cyprus at The Palm Beach in Limmasol. After a very successful career at The Gatehouse, he decided to return to Seckford Hall as senior sous chef, before taking up his current role as joint headchef.

Felixstowe-based PR firm Pier has appointed two new staff and promoted one of its team.

Lyn Peters has been appointed account director, Helen Gilmour has been recruited on a PR internship and Sophie French has been promoted to senior account executive.

Lyn comes to Pier with 20 years’ experience in public relations gained across a range of clients, including Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity), St John Ambulance and DHL. Lyn will co-ordinate campaign activity for Pier’s new logistics clients, as well as Mr Hugh’s cold-pressed rapeseed oil and Bisto frozen ready meals.

Pier also welcomes Helen Gilmour, who has been hired as a PR intern. Helen will be working with the existing team at Pier to gain an understanding of the PR industry, via on-the-job and external training, whilst providing on-going support to Pier’s client account teams.

Sophie French has been promoted to senior account executive.

Sophie joined Pier two years ago, having achieved a BA (Hons) marketing degree and will continue to focus on key accounts: Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, Breathing Buildings and Gressingham Duck.

Vauxhall retailer Quest Motors has made a host of new appointments across its Maldon and Braintree dealerships.

Martin Wise,47, has joined the dealership at Maldon as Vauxhall brand manager at the end of April having worked in the motor industry for over 10 years for Vauxhall dealerships.

Nigel Cheke, 48 from Ingatestone, has also recently joined the team at Maldon to continue his long-established career with Vauxhall.

Now in his 23rd year working with Vauxhall, Nigel has joined Quest as sales executive, bringing with him excellent knowledge and enthusiasm for the brand alongside a customer focused approach.

“I am delighted to be a part of the team,” he said.

Two new appointments have been made at the Braintree branch.

Ed Leland, 32, joins the team as sales executive and recently celebrated ten years in the motor industry. Trainee sales executive Christopher Bull, who recently turned 19, joined after a one-year apprenticeship in business administration at a well-known car retailer Christopher is currently learning the ropes at Quest Motors to make the transition into a fully-fledged sales executive.

Cambridge International Airport has taken on Jeremy Moore as new business development manager. This newly created role is central to the airport’s strategy for ongoing sustainable growth.

In his new position, Jeremy will be building relationships with airlines, travel agents, tour operators and businesses across the East of England to develop key, new flight routes from Cambridge International Airport. Jeremy will be working alongside head of business and route development, David Surley, and marketing manager, Glynis King, and will be leading on travel trade and corporate business support for the airport’s new passenger airline services to Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva and Milan.

Jeremy has spent the past seven years as sales manager for Air Mauritius and brings with him a wealth of experience from the aviation and travel industry, starting his career at Cathay Pacific Airways, before working for Tropical Places, British Airways and Thomson.

“I am delighted to be joining Cambridge International Airport at such an exciting time,” he said.

David Surley said: “We are thrilled to have such a dedicated and experienced addition to the team as Jeremy.”

Greene & Greene Solicitors in Bury St Edmunds have appointed Louisa Bradberry to its probate and taxation Department.

Louisa was raised and schooled in Suffolk. After qualification, she worked in Cambridgeshire until 2009 when she took time out to raise her family. She is glad to be back in the county she considers to be home. Louisa said: “I am very happy to have joined Greene & Greene. They have a wonderful department and reputation and I am pleased to be working with some highly respected members of the profession back in the area of law that I love.”

Louisa specialises in probate administration and the drafting of wills and therefore has direct experience of both the planning prior to and the process following a death. She prides herself in treating clients with compassion and understanding during what is often a difficult and stressful time.
