The BTS Group has secured a new contract to carry out vegetation management work for electricity distribution company UK Power Networks.

The contract, which runs for 12 years, involves the management of trees and other vegetation growing close to power lines to ensure that they remain clear of the wires and do not cause power cuts.

BTS, based at Needham Market, has been working for UK Power Networks, and predecessor companies responsible for the regional distribution network, for more than 20 years. Hal McCallum, managing director at BTS, said “We’re excited to be selected to continue to represent UK Power Networks in carrying out this important work.

“It’s great to see our commitment to safety, quality and customer service is recognised by the award of the new contract.”

UK Power Networks owns the electricity lines and cables across the East of Engalnd, London and the South East.

Besides tree and vegetation management, BTS also carries out maintenance, repair and construction work on overhead lines for UK Power Networks. Where possible, the tree, vegetation and line work are carried out together to reduce disruption.

In addition to work in the East and South of England, BTS also has contracts with clients in the North East and Scotland.
