ALL this week train operator One is trialling a new at-seat light breakfast for its first class passengers on the 0740 Norwich to London Liverpool Street service.

Among the light breakfasts on offer are a bacon baguette with tea or coffee for £3.95 or fresh citrus fruits with yoghurt and orange or apple juice for £2.50.

The trial is the latest in an on-going programme of initiatives to upgrade the food and drinks service available to passengers on One's Intercity trains between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London. Also included in the programme are the refurbishment of the restaurant vehicles, which is now almost complete, and the introduction of new café (buffet) bars over the next few months.

Andrew Goodrum, the company's mainline route director, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this trial to our first class customers. We are constantly seeking ways to improve upon the service that we offer to our customers, building on our recent recognition in a RAIL magazine survey where our restaurant service was rated the best on the UK rail network.

“We look forward to receiving comments and feedback from passengers on what they think of this light breakfast offer.”
