THE first of a new fleet of high capacity coaches have taken to the road at Stansted Airport.

The 61-seater National Express tri-axle vehicles are designed to travel on high frequency route such as the Stansted Airport to London services, which operate every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day.

Six vehicles are being rolled out in the first phase of the launch, with 20 expected to be on the road by September. 2,000 extra seats will be available every day when the roll-out is complete.

The coaches are equipped with leather seats, air conditioning and modern washroom facilities. They feature environmentally-friendly Euro IV engines with exhaust gas recirculation technology.
