BUSINESS and financial adviser Grant Thornton has welcomed a new senior tax manager to its expanding rural business team in East Anglia.

Stuart Maggs joins the firm from Spofforths, the largest independent accountancy firm in Sussex, where he was a Tax Partner. Stuart, who originally qualified as a barrister, has also held positions at KPMG and BDO Stoy Hayward and has over a decade of experience in providing innovative and creative tax solutions.

Mr Maggs said: “Grant Thornton is a national firm with a reputation for providing outstanding client services which is unrivalled in the profession. I am delighted to have an opportunity to help guide our clients, old and new, through the jungle of modern tax legislation.”

In his new role, he will work with a range of clients across the region, operating from the firm’s offices in Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds. As well as providing tax expertise, he also specialises in Trusts and Estates.

East Anglian office managing partner Richard Proctor said: “We are delighted to welcome Stuart on board. His considerable expertise will help Grant Thornton further strengthen the depth of service we provide for clients across the region.”
