NICHOLAS Holdsworth is the new manager at Ufford Park Hotel, Golf & Spa.

Mr Holdsworth was previously at Bylaugh Hall in Norfolk, and before that, had a successful career overseas.

He was born in south-east Asia and spent his early years abroad, as his father worked for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

He graduated fromm a three-year course in hotel management at Westminster College in London and joined the Rank Organisation. He worked in front office roles in the Five-star Royal Garden and Athenaeum Hotels, then as deputy general manager at the acclaimed Castle Hotel in Taunton, working with chefs Gary Rhodes and Phil Vickery.

He moved to Gibraltar to take up the role of general manager with the O'Callaghan Group of Hotels before returning to the UK.

He said he chose to join the Ufford because of the challenge of running a range of operations from the hotel to the spa.

“This scale of operation and level of diversity presents specific challenges and having experienced many other venues, I felt I could really make a difference at Ufford Park,” he said.

“I am focusing on consolidating the food and beverage outlets, the health and spa offerings and developing the training opportunities for the staff, so that Ufford Park becomes both a renowned corporate entity, we well as a truly remarkable resort destination.

“This, I believe, is the next commercial step for the business to take and I am looking forward to working with Jolyon Aldous and all of my colleagues to make this happen.”
