Nigel Farthing, senior partner at regional law firm Birketts, has been elected president of the Suffolk and North Essex Law Society.
He will serve a one-year term, representing local solicitors at a regional level and helping to promote the interests of the area’s legal firms to the national Law Society.
Mr Farthing joined Birketts in 1977, became a partner in 1982 and has been senior partner since 2006. His inauguration as president took place at the society’s annual general meeting.
Mr Farthing said: “It’s a real honour to be chosen to represent the many lawyers in the Suffolk and North Essex area.”
“I hope that under my presidency the legal profession in this region can continue to work together to better serve our community and enable their opinions and views to be heard.”
