SUFFOLK hotel Bedford Lodge has appointed a new managing director.

Former operations director Noel Byrne will lead the Newmarket-based luxury four star hotel, which recently underwent a half million pound transformation programme, into further phases of refurbishment, including the creation of a new spa.

The hotel is part of the Daveney Group and Mr Byrne will be working closely with chairman and founder Colin Bothway to oversee the continued growth and development of the group, which also includes the Barnham Broom Hotel and Golf Resort in Norwich and Edge Health and Fitness Club in Edinburgh.

Mr Byrne said he was “delighted” at his appointment and looking forward to driving the business and taking it into its next phase.

He has worked in the hotel industry for 30 years and joined the Daveney Group in 2003. He chairs the Tourism Business Action Group in Suffolk, is vice chairman of the Suffolk Tourism Partnership and is a former chairman of the British Hospitality Association.
