An Ipswich truck and van dealer is playing a vital role in the England football team's quest for World Cup glory in Germany by supplying transportation for the many packets of Jaffa Cakes, bottles of suntan lotion and widescreen televisions that will keep the players well and happy during this summer's campaign.

Orwell Truck and Van, based in Martlesham Heath business park, provided the two Mercedes-Benz trucks used by DHL to take out numerous culinary, medical and entertainment provisions to the luxurious Schlosshotel Buhlerhohe in Baden Baden where the England team set up camp yesterday.

As well as the many food items, including Corn Flakes, Robinson's orange cordial and Nescafe coffee, the trucks also transported golf clubs, gifts for local children and dignitaries, and several equipment items such as treatment couches, match towels and 100 training cones.

The two trucks trusted with the all-important supplies are part of a total fleet of 450 supplied by Orwell to DHL over the last two years.

“It's testimony to the faith DHL has in the Mercedes-Benz trucks that we're in this wonderful position of supporting the England team,” said David Grant, Orwell managing director.

“I just wish we could mend metatarsals as well as supply trucks!” he added.
