One railway is set to install automated ticket barriers on platforms 8, 9 and 10 at London Liverpool Street station at a cost of £880,000.
The project, managed by commercial property agents Lambert Smith Hampton, means all platforms at the station will have automated ticket barriers and increases barrier numbers from 50 to 65.
The company says the aim is to ensure a “consistent approach “ to getting access to the platforms and to clamp down on people travelling without tickets to minimise the loss in revenue to the business.
One London Terminals manager Steve Newland said: “We welcome the installation of the new gates at Liverpool Street, which shows our determination to eradicate ticketless travel and improve the service we can offer our customers.”
