West Suffolk-based 1 Accounts Online has been shortlisted in the 2017 Practice Excellence Awards.
Paul Donno, managing director at the Haverhill firm, has been nominated for the Practice Excellence Pioneer of the Year title, together with four other accountants.
Mr Donno said: “Over the years we have won several notable industry awards including the British Accountancy Awards for New Practice last year. The Practice Excellence Awards are definitely a big deal within our profession and I am really delighted to be shortlisted.
“When we started 1 Accounts in 2014 our service offer was purely online accounting. At that time it was a brave step. Some of the more traditional accountancy firms did not believe it was viable to build a business based on just an online service. I am pleased to say that we have proved them wrong!
“Now, thanks to the Government’s Making Tax Digital initiative, all accountants are having to look towards the digital space to ensure they keep their clients compliant.
“Online accounting has disrupted the traditional accountancy business model. Real time financial information, fixed fees, no time sheets and having more time to spend on supporting and guiding clients means we can offer business owners a completely different experience.”
Since its launch the workforce at 1 Accounts has increased from two to six and it has also recently extended its reach into Cambridge with the opening of 1 Accounts Cambridge Ltd, headed by experienced Cambridge businessman Mark Coplowe.
