FREIGHTLINER has secured an additional rail loading slot at the Port of Felixstowe to operate what will be the 25th service out of the port.

The company is using the slot to run an additional service to the O'Conners terminal at Widnes to help meet growing demand from customers to transport goods to the north-west.

It brings Freightliner's service offering to 19 round trips to and from Felixstowe and 90 single trips nationwide, with eight of the 13 destinations served from the Port of Felixstowe being owned and operated by Freightliner.

Freightliners's year on year volumes at Felixstowe have increased by 10% and daily records have been breached twice over the last month, with overall rail volumes at the port - of which Freightliner accounts for 80% - also having reached an all time high.

Peter Maybury, managing director at Freightliner, said: “This service is launched in response to demand from our extensive customer base at Felixstowe. This reinforces our position as an integral part of the Port of Felixstowe's land side operations and is testament to our network offering and outstanding service levels.”
