Workers from the Ransomes Jacobsen factory in Ipswich were among the dozens helping behind the scenes, with the greenkeeping team providing the fairways and the greens for the world’s top golfers in the Ryder Cup, Paris.

As the likes of Rory MIlroy, Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari did their stuff on the Le Golf National course, near Paris, around the clock the greenkeeping team worked behind the scenes to make sure everything was in the best possible condition to allow them to display their skills.

Ransomes Jacobsen is the official supplier of grass-cutting machinery for Le Golf National.

Like the golfers it was a multi-national operation.

Ransomes Jacobsen employees from Ipswich and France were there, supporting the local staff, helping to prepare and maintain mowers and other machinery, some of which had been made in Ipswich.

Around 20 staff travelled out from Ipswich for the tournament.

Andre Andrade, International Golf Sales Director, said: “The 2018 Ryder Cup was a huge success. The world witnessed one of the best-presented golf courses in the world this weekend, and for the staff at our factory in Ipswich who have been involved, it’s a huge privilege and a very proud moment.

“From supplying 60 extra machines for the golf course, to providing technical support to the greenkeeping team, we have all pulled together to make sure this tournament was a success. It’s safe to say Jacobsen, and Ipswich, have been a part of golfing history this weekend.”
