A TEXTILE design student has scooped a national award for her quirky children's textiles, which feature creatures such as Milton the bat.

Rebecca Shreeve, 22, of Carlton Colville, was due to graduate with a BA (Hons) in mixed media textile design from De Montford University, Leicester, in July.

She was awarded the Embroiderers' Guild and Coast Craft UK Award at New Designers, an annual event in graduate design showcasing the talent of around 4,000 new designers, which took place at the Business Design Centre in London.

Her work, entitled Secret Garden, is aimed at children and the young at heart and uses imagery inspired by iron gates, pathways, trellis and British wildlife.
