Industry leaders have given Suffolk engineering students an insight into careers in the renewables sector.

Paul Savvides, procurement manager for global giant Siemens-Gamesa, Graham Hacon, chief executive of engineering firm 3sun Group, and Lee Andrews, managing director of CWind, were at West Suffolk College to explain how the sector was a huge economic driver in the region, with many billions of pounds worth of investment going into offshore wind projects off the East Anglian coast.

Mr Savvides told the Level 3 students: “The world is your oyster within our sector. Siemens are always looking for talented and ambitious young people to take up apprenticeships and positions within our company.”

Victoria Smith, supply chain strategy manager at ScottishPower Renewables, said: “We believe there are fantastic opportunities for young people in East Anglia to be involved in the offshore wind sector.”
