Ms Rebello joins as an accounts and law graduate form India. She previously worked for Arthur Andersen, Ernst and Young and BMR & Associates in India in the indirect tax department, where she dealt with a number of insurance tax transaction queries.

Ms Knight joins from KPMG's corporate tax department in London's Canary Wharf. She has been with the firm for nearly five years, is ATT-qualified and currently awaiting her CA results.

Adrian Smith, head of IPT at the firm said the IPT Group now had 17 people nationwide, with specialists in all EU member states as well as 52 countries globally.

“The addition of Samantha and Shameera at the group's headquarters in Ipswich reflects the importance KPMG places on East Anglia's insurance sector,” he said.

As well as his existing responsibilities as head of the UK Group and chairman of the KPMG EU and Global IPT Networks, he is also to be head of IPT in the new KPMG Europe, to be created on October 1, 2007.
