Shoppers queued outside the Bury St Edmunds store of home furnishings retailer Glasswells yesterday for the start of a clearance sale ahead of a major refurbishment.

Yesterday saw reopening of the store after a week-long closure for the mark-down of the prices of all items. Around 200 customers queued in anticipation to see what bargains they could find, with the sale covering everything from sofas and dining to gifts and cookware, including some big brand names.

The clearance event will continue whilst stocks last and the refurbishment work will then commence to update the product ranges and refresh the displays to reflect the latest colours and styles.

Paul Glasswell, managing director, said: “We are delighted that this event has proved this popular so far. It is true there is plenty to see and thousands of cut-price offers to be taken advantage of. The event will continue until our stocks are depleted so we are urging customers to catch the bargains while they can.”
