A total of 31 care providers have been selected as finalists for this year’s Suffolk Care Awards.

The awards recognise excellent care practice in Suffolk and highlight the important job carers and care providing companies perform on a daily basis.

Categories include: Promoting Dignity and Respect in Everyday Life; End of Life Care; Excellent Training, and Food and Catering. This year’s category finalists are based in locations across the county including: Bury St Edmunds (6), Halesworth (1) Ipswich (16), Lowestoft (2), Saxmundham (1), Stowmarket (4), and Woodbridge (1).

A team of care sector professional judges, from both private and public-sector organisations, including for the first time a relative of a care service user, met in June and July to select the category finalists announced today.

They will now all go through to the final of the 2017 Suffolk Care Awards, which is due to be held at Trinity Park in Ipswich on September 28 when the winners of the 10 categories will be announced.

This is the second year the awards have been held. Two Suffolk health and social care organisations host them: The Suffolk Brokerage, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to raising care standards, and the Suffolk Association of Independent Care Providers (SAICP), a membership organisation involved with good care practice.

Chair of The Suffolk Brokerage, Liz Taylor, said: “Yet again, we have seen some outstanding examples of great care and exemplary care practice in Suffolk. Selecting the category finalists has also been a hard job for the judges.”
