Research by Lloyds TSB Commercial reveals that 43% of firms wants more support to help them through the recession, and almost half predict it will be more severe than previously anticipated.
The bank's programme includes business advice seminars and a free advice website at www.lloydstsb.com/businesssupport.
Area director in Essex Steve Woolridge said there was no doubt availability of funding played a key part in the survival of any business, and they were increasing their lending in Essex, but it was also important to get sound business advice.
“Essex businesses are going through an extremely tough trading period and many have already made some difficult decisions to help mitigate the impact of the recession. But, as the economy continues to falter, it is critical that businesses get the support they need,” he said.
