Suffolk communications design agency Spring has won a £5.5million contract to market Morocco as a tourist destination.

The contract, secured by the Southwold-based firm following a two-month tender process involving six British agencies, runs for three years and covers marketing in the UK, the United States and Canada.

It has been awarded as part of Morocco’s Vision 2020 tourism programme, through which the north African country aims to establish itself as a World Top 20 tourism destination by doubling its tourism income.

Spring’s co-founder, Erika Clegg, said: “The Moroccan Tourist Board approached us and invited us to tender direct, following our high profile work for Visit Suffolk and a number of European governments. We have recommended a robust creative strategy and campaign plan with bold targets to take Morocco up to 2018.

“Creatively, it’s a gift: this country is utterly magical, has a fabulous approach to hospitality and is very easy to get to from anywhere in Britain.

“We’ll be able to make exhilarating use of colour and texture, and deploy a range of media including some cutting edge digital and experiential activities, to demonstrate the sensory wealth that greets Morocco’s visitors.”

Spring, which has a satellite office in Barcelona and media partners in London and Washington DC, will start work on the project with immediate effect.
