Ipswich-based law firm Ashtons Legal has appointed solicitor Martyn Hayward, an asbestos disease specialist.
Martyn has been dealing with asbestos related disease claims for more than 15 years, but also has an industrial background having previously worked for 25 years as an electrician. He is recognised by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as a senior litigator and as an accredited asbestos and occupational disease specialist.
He is based in Ashtons’ Cambridge office alongside Phoebe Osborne, a fellow asbestos disease solicitor who joined the firm in 2016. Both Martyn and Phoebe work alongside the firm’s well established personal injury teams in Ipswich, Thetford and Bury St Edmunds.
Martyn is a member of the Anglia Asbestos Diseases Support Groups and works closely with health care professionals, voluntary organisations and charities to help provide clients with help beyond simply monetary compensation.
He deals with all types of asbestos related disease claims, including mesothelioma and asbestos related lung cancer, and helps guide families of sufferers through the process of bringing a claim on behalf of the estate. He also acts for clients who have contracted non-malignant asbestos-related diseases such as asbestosis and pleural thickening.

Ipswich Building Society has made two senior promotions.
The Ipswich-based society has appointed general manager (operations) Ian Brighton, to the board as operations director and promoted Rebecca Newman, formerly secretary and legal counsel, to general manager (legal and HR).
Ian has spent 27 yeras working in the sector, while Rebecca is a qualified solicitor.
Chief executive Richard Norrington said: “I am delighted to extend our congratulations to Ian and Rebecca on their new appointments.”
Essex recruitment co-founder and managing director Robyn Holmes has been shortlisted for an award.
The business leader, of Witham-based Prime Appointments is in the running for Forward Ladies’ 2018 Female Entrepreneur award. Robyn, who has a 50-strong team, has invested in a new office website and branding.

Diana Dostalova-Sujewicz has been promoted to head of operations at Felixstowe-based European freight firm Jordon.
Diana, who is fluent in five languages and studied business and logistics in Slovakia and the UK, was promoted from operations team leader.
Director Jon Swallow said: “Diana is a great asset to the company.”
“It’s a tough role with huge expectations from very demanding customers, but I love it,” said Diana.
Bury St Edmunds law firm Burnett Barker Solicitors has weclomed Adele Mills as business administration apprentice.
Adele, 19, of Bury St Edmunds, has been working with both the accounts and admin teams, getting involved in all areas of accounting and administrative processes.
The 18-month Level 3 Apprenticeship, supported by West Suffolk College, is the second apprenticeship scheme the firm has taken part in.
Anglia Ruskin University has appointed a new chief operating officers to lead on student experience, corporate development and innovation.
James Rolfe will join the Essex and Cambridgeshire-based university from his current role as executive director of resources at the London Borough of Enfield.
James is also managing director of Housing Gateway Limited.
“I am delighted to have been appointed to this important role at Anglia Ruskin University,” said James.
