Stowmarket: New jobs to follow as Bosch starts conversion of former Hopgoods store

WORK will get under way next month to refurbish a building which will bring up to 100 new engineering jobs, bosses have said.

Technology giant Bosch has its worldwide base for developing power tools and lawn and garden products in Stowmarket, and the company is set to expand the operation by moving into the old Hopgoods store in Gipping Way.

Planning permission was been approved by Mid Suffolk District Council last summer.

The refurbishment of the former furniture store will begin at the end of February and is expected to be completed this summer.

Hopgoods, which tad traded in Suffolk for 114 years, with the business moving in to the Gipping Way site in 1992, closed in February last year, a victim of the economic downturn.
