Specflue, a leading UK supplier of renewable heat products and flue systems, has opened its new northern depot in Castleford, West Yorkshire.

Jeremy Fry, managing director of the Sudbury-based firm, and his wife Jan, who is purchasing and logistics director, visited the depot to join in celebrations as the depot opened for business and welcomed its first customers.

The depot, just off junction 31 of the M62, provides 20,000 square feet of warehouse space, a trade counter and customer parking.

Mr Fry said: “This is an important strategic step in the company’s growth and today marks the culmination of a year’s planning, to get Specflue an outlet in the north that will enable us to service our customers based from the Midlands to the Scottish Border.

“The new facility has created 12 new jobs and allows us to offer businesses in northern England and Scotland an improved service that equals what is already being enjoyed by our customers in the south.

“We chose Castleford as it is a pivotal point in the UK with excellent transport links. Our new depot can, not only be easily accessed by our customers, but also allows us, through out fleet of new service vehicles, to fulfil our next day delivery service pledge.”

However, he added: “This is just the start of Specflue’s presence in the north. Over the coming months, we are intending to increase our number of service vehicles significantly. There are also plans in the pipeline, to have a further base in Livingston, West Lothian that can service most of mainland Scotland.”
