The managing director of a Sudbury-based kitchen showroom firm has been invited to judge a top national award.

Richard Hibbert of The Kitchen Showroom Ltd, will be one of five judges in this years KBSA Kitchen Bathroom and Bedroom design awards, which celebrates the success and innovation of KBSA (Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Specialist Association) members across the country.

He said: “The awards are for finished designs that have been planned, supplied and installed by the individual or company. There is also a kitchen concept award which opens the awards to everyone as the design must be based on set measurements and a brief ? it’s a completely level playing field.

“Winning the awards give great confidence to the designer, enhances the company’sreputation and produces lots of natural publicity for any winner.”

The KBSA, founded in 1978, and includes around 250 retail members across the UK and is the only trade association operating specifically for the KBB industry,

The Kitchen Showroom Ltd opened its first kitchen showroom in Sudbury in August 1989, with just four displays and a passion for providing the best possible design service.

The family business has since grown and now supplies bespoke interior schemes across Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. The management was passed down to Richard from his father Roger upon his retirement in early 2013.

Richard added: “To be asked to judge is very humbling. We pride ourselves on the way we act as a business and the way we treat each individual design.

“It is fantastic to be seen as such an industry expert at such a young age. I have been highly commended and short-listed a few times in the awards myself, so I know what the designers have been through and will go through.”

The annual KBSA KBB design awards ceremony and dinner will be taking place on September 23 in Stratford On Avon.
