SOFTWARE firm Fargo Systems, which is based at East Bergholt, has collaborated with port operator DP World to develop a new interface for the ports of Southampton, Tilbury and the forthcoming London Gateway.

The new export booking interface for the CNS Compass port community system links from Fargo’s TOPS (Transport Operations and Processing System) transport management system.

Together with a well established interface with Felixstwoe-based MCP’s Destin8 port community system (for import releasing and export bookings), the CNS Compass interface means that Fargo customers can now communicate with both major port community systems from inside TOPS, without the need to re-key data.

“Fargo Systems recognises the significance of port community systems to the efficient flow of cargo and data”, said Colin Potter, Fargo Systems’ general manager.

“We will strive to provide integrated communication at every opportunity, playing our part in the port community.”

Gary Gordon, deputy transport manager at Multimodal Logistics Ltd/China Shipping, whose joint service vessels dock at the port of Southampton, said: “Since Fargo Systems developed the CNS interface it has saved us significant time and made the process of booking exports onto the port system very efficient.”
