A total of 375 farms across England, Scotland and Wales will be opening their gates today so the public can find out more about where their food comes from as a survey, carried out by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) found less than six in 10 adults knew they could buy British strawberries in the summer. Visit openfarmsunday.org to find farms taking part.

Suffolk Farmhouses Cheeses on the A140 at Creeting St Mary is offering free entry to farm as it celebrates Open Farm Sunday.

The dairy operation, which makes its own Suffolk cheeses, is run by farmers Jason and Katharine Salisbury, who have supported the annual event for a number years.

The farm is open from 10.30am to 5pm and the fun includes tractor-trailer rides, farm tours, milking demos, childrens’ activity barn, machinery display, morris dancers, cheese-tasting, farm shop, hog roast rolls, barbecue, tea and cake, ice-cream, a milk taste challenge and a chance to meet the cows, calves, goats and pigs. No dogs are allowed.

Whitegate Farm is at Norwich Road, Creeting St Mary, Suffolk, IP6 8PG.
