Suffolk Farm Machinery Club, which this year celebrates 50 years of its Power in Action event, gave out a host of trophies at its annual dinner on Friday, February 17.
The club, launched by former East Anglian Daily Times agricultural editor Rintoul Booth in 1960, invited its current farming editor, Sarah Chambers, to give a speech on her role at the dinner, held at the Cedars Hotel, Stowmarket.
Afterwards, club chairman Chris Creasy announced a series of prizes and awards. Bury St Edmunds scooped the Thurlow Rose Bowl, Russell Mann the Botwright Cup for top tractor man, Woodbridge the inter-centre quiz Kerr cup, quiz Wise Owl cup went to Michael Beckett and Top Schemer was Robert Foster for his camera security system.
The club is planning to hold its special anniversary Power in Action event, where tractors go head-to-head, on 200 acres of clay soil at Clopton in September.
