Visit Suffolk, the destination marketing organisation responsible for promoting the county, has launched an advertising campaign on the London Underground targeting millions of visitors and commuters in the capital.

From July 9 to 22, the Visit Suffolk campaign will be visible at 25 vicinity stations for the main Olympic events, such as Earls Court, Embankment, Knightsbridge, Wembley Park and Hyde Park Corner.

These stations alone are visited by over 100 million commuters per year, and an additional eight million are anticipated to visit around the Olympic Games period.

The opportunity came when the London Olympic Games Organising Committee (LOGOG) gave the green light for UK advertising company CBS Outdoor to release advertising space at reduced rates to a select cluster of potential advertisers from local authorities and destination marketing organisations.

The aim is to motivate potential visitors by highlighting Suffolk’s features including its beaches, outdoor spaces, days out, heritage and culture.

Amanda Bond, Brand Manager for Suffolk, said: “To be presented with an opportunity which would otherwise be untouchable at a time when one of the most significant events of our lifetime comes to Britain, Visit Suffolk just couldn’t say no.

“Not only is London a key target audience, but with heightened media attention and visitors to the Capital, it will be the perfect show-case for Suffolk. Particularly as we have reason to believe there are still a large proportion of visitors and holidaymakers yet to plan their summer getaway”.
