A “no wrong door” point of access to business support and advice was officially launched at the Suffolk Show today.

The New Anglia Growth Hub initiative involves a team of business growth advisers who will offer face-to-face business support for firms around Suffolk and Norfolk, together with an online information portal and a telephone helpline.

It is being funded by £3.9million of Government money secured by the New Anglia Local Enteprise Partnership as part of City Deals for Ipswich and Norwich and is to be run on behalf of the LEP by Suffolk Chamber of Commerce.

Today’s launch ceremony was hosted by Suffolk Chamber at its pavilion at the Suffolk Show, with speakers including Peter Funnell, president of the chamber, Mark Pendlington, chairman of New Anglia LEP, and Mark Bee, leader of Suffolk County Council and a member of the LEP board.

Dr Funnell said the chamber was delighted to be working with New Anglia, Suffolk County Council and other partners to deliver the Growth Hub, which aimed to offer a “no wrong door” point of access to support and advice.

Mr Pendlington said New Anglia was succeeding as an organisation because, while the individual organisations involved were successful in their own right, they could achieve “so much more together”.

He added: “The LEP has a passion for business success, creating skills and making Suffolk and Norfolk a great place in live and work.”

Mr Bee said that economic growth was a key priority for Suffolk County Council and it was pleased to be working with the LEP, Suffolk Chamber and other partners on the Growth Hub.

There was clear evidence that businesses which sought advice were more likley to grow, he added.

The Growth Hub initiative aims to provide support for 3,000 businesses between now and June 2015.

The online Growth Hub portal, providing national and local business support can be found at www.newangliagrowthhub.co.uk .

The telephone helpline service for everyday support and to request an appointment with a growth adviser is available on 0300 456 3565 from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
