Suffolk/Norfolk: New Anglia LEP seeks to private sector board member

The New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP)is seeking to recruit a new representative from private sector to serve on its board.

The LEP’s role is to lead economic growth across Suffolk and Norfolk, helping businesses grow and create new jobs and, since its formation in 2011, New Anglia has developed a reputation as one of the best performing LEPs in the country.

Its Strategic Economic Plan sets out ambitious plans to create new jobs, homes and businesses and has secured £173million of Government investment over the next few years.

New Anglia LEP chairman Mark Pendlington said he was looking for a persuasive and influential business leader who would bring energy and commitment to the board to help drive progress and deliver the plan.

He said: “We have a very strong and dedicated board, drawn from across the private and public sectors. But it’s time to add to the expertise and experience around the table as we set about delivering on our targets and ambitions and on the increased responsibilities the LEP has been given.

“We are inviting applications from senior business leaders with board level experience or equivalent, with a proven record of developing and delivering business strategies in a commercial environment.”

The primary role of private sector board members is to represent the views and interests of private sector businesses, ensuring that decisions are taken in the best interests of New Anglia’s business community as a whole.

Successful candidates will initially serve for a 12 month term and will need to commit to a minimum of two days per month. It is a voluntary position but expenses may be claimed.

The closing date for applications is September 26 and interviews will be held on October 14 or 20.
