A Stowmarket pre-cast concrete firm has helped convert a Second World War brick barn in Norfolk to enable it to store grain in time for this year’s harvest.
Poundfield Products Ltd, based at Creeting St Peter, was given a tight schedule when Poul Hovesen of Salle Farms, Reepham, asked it to carry out the work at what was a busy time for the firm.
In the space of three days, production manager Paul Sheppard assigned three staff to the emergency job and made and installed 90 L-Blocs. The installation was very tight, with only 50mm of clearance from the telehandler to the roof. The adapted barn can now house 5,000 cubic metres of grain.
“I decided to call Poundfield to see if they could help – and my goodness they did just that in record time at the moment I needed them to,” said Poul.
Poundfield commercial director Matt Moss said the firm had a long track record of supplying solutions to the agricultural sector.
