THE Suffolk Show has published its livestock schedule for the 182nd Suffolk Show on May 29 and 30 this year.

Among the 416 classes, organisers are including separate ones for Charolais cattle following several years when they had to be amalgamated. Cattle stalls must be booked by April 26 with confirmed entry by noon on May 20.

Sheep are expected to draw bigger numbers this year since the Southdown has announced the show will be the venue for its annual breed show. There are also classes encouraging entries from native breeds, with a good turnout expected as 2013 marks the 40th anniversary of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. For information contact livestock officer Elizabeth Payne on 01473 707115.

Show Director David Nunn is hoping for increased entries in both the pedigree and commercial pig. The commercial pig auction will take place on May 29 after the judging has finished and, given the current debate over imports of slaughtered pork, is expected to attract renewed public interest this year. Entries for sheep, sheep dogs and pigs close on April 12.
