THE School of Business, Leadership and Enterprise at University Campus Suffolk (UCS) has become a Chartered Management Institute-approved centre.

The status qualifies UCS to run CMI- accredited management courses in the future, although the immediate aim is to “map” current UCS courses to CMI qualifications so that students who complete their course are also able to receive other CMI qualifications.

For example, students who complete the MBA course will soon be able to claim CMI’s postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.Dr Nabil Sultan, head of the division of business, management and enterprise at UCS, said: “Being a CMI Approved Centre will enable us to provide value for money courses to our students and will also enable us to produce students with professional qualifications that will enhance their job and career prospects.

“Just one in five UK managers currently hold a management qualification, meaning a bit of learning could really help an individual stand out from the crowd when it comes to securing the next step on the career ladder”.

More than 35,000 people registered to do a CMI Qualification last year alone and research shows holding a professional Qualification can boost earnings by an estimated £81,000 over a working lifetime.
